Our founder, Dr. Alistair Vance (a pseudonym used for privacy, but a very real former practicing anesthesiologist and pain specialist), spent fifteen years on the front lines of pain management. He witnessed the pendulum swing of the medical establishment from over-prescribing in the 1990s to the radical, often cruel, restriction of pain relief in the 2010s.

In 2018, Dr. Vance watched a patient, a former construction worker with severe lumbar radiculopathy, break down in tears because his local pharmacy refused to fill his prescription due to “corporate policy” limiting opioid volumes, despite the prescription being valid and the medical necessity clear. The man had not slept in three days due to pain. He had driven 45 minutes to the pharmacy only to be turned away.

Dr. Vance realized that the system was failing the very people it was supposed to serve. The “War on Opioids” was inadvertently becoming a “War on Patients.” While he agreed that addiction needed to be addressed, he could not accept that legitimate pain sufferers should become collateral damage.

He left his clinical practice to build a solution. He assembled a team of pharmacists, logistics experts, and web developers with one goal: to create a digital pharmacy that adhered to the highest legal and medical standards while prioritizing the patient experience above all else.
